HD Image ESP32 Camera Module Series for Embedded Vision Devices
$1.00Ask a Question
Introduction
ESP32 Camera Module Series provides 2MP, 3MP and 5MP DVP camera options for embedded vision devices using ESP32 platforms. The Series covers moderate, wide and ultra-wide viewing angles, Fixed-Focus and VCM Autofocus configurations, and both compact and M12 lens structures. Instead of selecting a camera by resolution alone, developers can compare the models according to scene coverage, target distance, lens structure and focus requirements.
Applications in Real Devices
Robotics and Mobile Vision
ESP32-based robotics may need basic visual feedback for environmental observation, object positioning or remote monitoring without moving to a larger imaging platform. Different models in this Series allow developers to balance resolution, scene coverage and focus behavior according to how much of the environment must be visible and whether the target distance changes during operation.
Compact IoT Imaging Devices
Compact connected devices often have limited camera space and processing resources. The 24-pin DVP structure provides a direct embedded-camera route, while 2MP to 5MP options allow resolution to be selected according to the actual image-detail requirement.
Wide-Area Visual Monitoring
Wide and ultra-wide models can capture more of the surrounding scene from one camera position. These routes are useful when scene coverage matters more than concentrating pixels on a small distant target.
Interactive Object Capture
VCM Autofocus can be evaluated when objects appear at different distances and one Fixed-Focus position cannot cover the normal operating range.
How to Choose the Integration Direction
Resolution
Choose 2MP for basic embedded imaging, 3MP when additional image detail is required without moving directly to 5MP, or 5MP when the device needs more spatial detail.
Field of View
The Series ranges from moderate D68.7°–D76.6° views to D130°–D150° wide-angle configurations. Select according to how much scene the device needs to capture from one camera position.
Focus Configuration
Most models use Fixed Focus for predictable target distances. SF4V564085AFBY-ESP provides a VCM Autofocus route for applications with changing working distances.
Lens Structure
SF4V2640BA-ESP-M12 provides an M12 lens structure for projects where lens flexibility matters. Other models use more compact fixed-lens structures.
DVP and ESP32 Integration
All seven models use a 24-pin gold-finger DVP route. Pin definition, ESP32 hardware configuration, software support and available processing resources should be checked before sampling.
Featured Models
Model | Sensor | Main Device Direction | Reason to Consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| SF5G2145BC-ESP V1.0 | GC2145 | Basic ESP32 Imaging | Consider this model when 2MP resolution and D73° coverage are sufficient and the main target is around the calibrated 40cm focus position. |
| SF4V2640BA-ESP-M12 | OV2640 | ESP32 Robotics and Lens- Flexible Prototypes | Consider this model when an ESP32 project needs an M12 lens structure, D130° coverage and a 20cm-to-infinity working range. |
| SF4V2640BA-ESP-S V1.0 | OV2640 | Compact Wide-Area ESP32 Devices | Consider this model when compact optics, D135° coverage and closer 10cm-to-infinity imaging matter more than M12 lens flexibility. |
| SF3V3660BY-ESP | OV3660 | General ESP32 Embedded Imaging | Consider this model when 2MP detail is insufficient but the project does not require the larger image data or wider optics of the 5MP routes. |
| SF4V564088BY-ESP | OV5640 | Higher-Detail ESP32 Monitoring | Consider this model when 5MP detail is required with a moderate D76.6° view and a stable Fixed-Focus operating range. |
| SF4V564088BYC-ESP C2.0 | OV5640 | Wide-Area ESP32 Vision | Consider this model when one camera position must capture a very broad D150° scene and a Fixed-Focus optical route is appropriate. |
| SF4V564085AFBY-ESP | OV5640 | Variable-Distance ESP32 Object Imaging | Consider this model when 5MP detail is required and target distance changes enough that one Fixed-Focus setting is insufficient. |
SincereFirst Customization
Lens and FOV
Different models cover moderate, wide and ultra-wide viewing angles. Lens parameters can be evaluated according to the target scene, device opening and required visible area.
Focus Configuration
Fixed Focus is the standard direction for most models, while a VCM Autofocus route is available for variable-distance applications. Focus selection should follow the actual target-distance range.
FPC and 24-Pin Connector
FPC structure, cable direction and 24-pin gold-finger connection can be evaluated according to the ESP32 board position and enclosure layout.
DVP and Platform Integration
DVP pin assignment, host configuration and software support should be reviewed with the intended ESP32 platform before sampling.
FAQ
How should I choose between the 2MP, 3MP and 5MP models?
Start with the visual task rather than the highest available resolution. Use 2MP when basic scene observation is sufficient, 3MP when additional detail is needed, and 5MP when smaller features or larger capture areas must retain more image information.
When does a wide-angle ESP32 camera become the wrong choice?
Wide-angle optics are less suitable when the target is small and distant because the target occupies fewer pixels in the image. A narrower optical route may provide better useful detail in that situation.
What normally causes integration problems even when the module is marked ESP32 compatible?
Pin assignment, DVP timing, power rails, available GPIO resources, memory, frame-buffer requirements and software support can still differ between ESP32 designs. These conditions should be checked before the hardware layout is finalized.
What information should be provided before selecting a model?
Provide the ESP32 platform, target size, target distance, required scene width, focus requirement and available camera space. These conditions usually determine the correct model more reliably than resolution alone.
