      Introduction

In some inspection projects, the first question is not how many camera views are needed. It is whether the camera head can physically enter the available opening.

This single-camera design uses a 6.35mm stainless-steel inspection head, making access diameter its main advantage over the 7.9mm dual- and triple-camera products in the same group.

It combines a forward-view camera, 5cm Fixed Focus and six integrated white LEDs, providing a simpler inspection structure for narrow spaces where side-view cameras are not essential.

      Applications in Real Devices

      Small-Diameter Pipe Inspection

When the pipe opening cannot accommodate a larger multi-camera head, the 6.35mm structure provides a smaller forward-view alternative.

      Restricted Mechanical Openings

Inspection ports inside machinery or assemblies may impose a strict maximum probe diameter. In these cases, reducing the head size can be more important than adding extra viewing directions.

      Narrow Automotive Cavities

Compact access points may only allow a small forward-view camera to enter. The integrated LED ring supports inspection where little ambient light is available.

      Straight-Path Borescope Devices

Where the target is mainly located ahead of the probe, a single-camera structure can avoid the size and complexity of side-view optics.

      Project Evaluation Guide

      Consider This Model When

      • The maximum access diameter is the primary limitation.
      • A 7.9mm camera head is too large.
      • Only forward viewing is required.
      • The working distance is around 5cm.
      • Local LED illumination is needed.
      • USB 2.0 matches the host.
      • IP67 protection is required at the camera head.

      Confirm Before Sampling

      • Actual minimum access opening.
      • Required clearance around the camera head.
      • Whether side-wall observation is necessary.
      • Target size at 5cm.
      • Required FOV.
      • Surface reflectivity.
      • Cable length.
      • Environmental exposure.

Choosing This Model Within the Endoscope Camera Series

This model represents the small-diameter single-camera direction.

Choose it when the ability to enter a restricted opening is more important than having multiple viewing directions.

The main selection trade-off is straightforward: 6.35mm smaller access head → single forward view; 7.9mm larger head → dual- or triple-camera viewing options.

      Camera Head Size

The camera-head structure can be evaluated according to the maximum allowable diameter and available insertion space.

      Lens and Focus

FOV and focus distance can be adjusted according to target size and actual inspection distance.

      LED Illumination

LED configuration can be evaluated according to cavity depth, working distance and surface reflectivity.

      Cable and USB Integration

Cable length, routing and USB connection can be adapted to the final probe and host design.

Final configuration should be validated with the actual host platform, enclosure, optics, software, and lighting environment before sampling.

      FAQ

When should I give up side viewing for a smaller camera head?

When the access opening cannot accommodate a larger multi-camera structure and the target can still be inspected from the forward direction.

Is 6.35mm the only dimension that matters for access?

No. The complete probe structure, cable transition, bending path and required clearance must also be considered.

Is 1MP enough for a narrow-space inspection device?

It depends on the smallest feature that needs to be visible at the actual working distance. For endoscope selection, target size in the image is more useful than megapixel count alone.

Can increasing FOV compensate for not having a side camera?

Only partly. A wider FOV captures more surrounding area, but it does not create a true perpendicular side view.

Can the 5cm focus distance be changed?

The optical configuration can be evaluated according to the actual working distance and target requirements.

Why not simply use the smallest possible camera head for every endoscope?

Because reducing size can limit available camera directions, illumination structure and optical options. The correct diameter depends on what the inspection task actually needs to see.
