Introduction
SF-SYA3580-586 is a 48MP USB2.0 camera module designed for devices that need high-resolution imaging while the target distance changes during operation.
Based on the IMX586 CMOS sensor, it supports up to 8000×6000 image capture, 4K at 30fps and VCM Autofocus with a D82° viewing angle. Compared with a Fixed Focus 48MP USB module, its main value is the ability to maintain usable focus across changing working distances without requiring manual lens adjustment.
USB Video Class compatibility provides a practical integration path for PC-based and embedded hosts that need high-resolution camera capability without developing a direct MIPI imaging pipeline.
Applications in Real Devices
High-Resolution Document and Object Capture Terminals
For devices capturing documents, labels, components or products at changing distances, Autofocus allows the camera to adjust focus as the target position varies.
The 48MP native resolution provides additional detail for cropping, recognition or archival capture when the target contains small text or fine surface information.
AI Recognition and Visual Analysis Devices
Recognition terminals may receive objects at different distances or positions rather than at one fixed focal plane. VCM Autofocus helps maintain target clarity, while 48MP imaging preserves more source detail before host-side AI or image-processing algorithms are applied.
Interactive Displays and Smart Terminals
For smart displays, interactive terminals and embedded devices where users or objects can appear at different distances, Autofocus provides more flexibility than a fixed-distance optical configuration. USB2.0 UVC integration also simplifies connection to host systems that already support standard USB cameras.
OEM High-Resolution Imaging Equipment
The module is suitable for OEM devices that require a 48MP camera with automatic focusing rather than a manually adjusted optical structure. The D82° viewing direction provides a balanced scene coverage for general-purpose imaging rather than an ultra-wide or telephoto optical task.
Project Evaluation Guide
Consider This Model When
- 48MP / 8000×6000 image capture is required.
- The target distance changes during normal operation.
- VCM Autofocus is preferred over Fixed Focus.
- 4K at 30fps meets the continuous video requirement.
- D82° viewing coverage matches the scene.
- USB2.0 UVC fits the host architecture.
Confirm Before Sampling
- Typical and maximum working distance.
- Required Autofocus behavior and focusing speed.
- Whether native 48MP capture or continuous 4K video is the main task.
- Target size and required field of view.
- Host operating system and UVC compatibility.
- Available 41×41mm module space and lens height.
- Whether Rolling Shutter is acceptable for the target movement condition.
Choosing This Model Within the 8K Camera Module Series
SF-SYA3580-586 is the 48MP Autofocus USB direction within the 8K Camera Module Series.
Choose this model when the device needs the high-resolution capability of IMX586 but cannot rely on one fixed working distance. Its VCM Autofocus and D82° optical direction make it more suitable for variable-distance capture than SF48A796.
If the device has a stable viewing distance and requires M12 or C/CS lens flexibility, SF48A796 provides the more direct Fixed Focus direction. If Type-C connection and a dual-layer PCB structure are more important, SF-ANVIS-48M should be evaluated instead.
Related Models
48MP Fixed Focus USB – SF48A796
Consider this model when the working distance remains stable and the project requires M12 or C/CS lens flexibility rather than active Autofocus.
48MP Type-C Autofocus USB – SF-ANVIS-48M
Consider this model when the project still requires 48MP Autofocus imaging but a Type-C USB2.0 interface and dual-layer PCB architecture better match the device structure.

Autofocus and Working Distance
VCM Autofocus is the standard optical direction. Focus behavior can be evaluated according to the device’s actual object-distance range, target contrast and capture workflow when the standard 10cm–∞ direction needs project-level validation.
Lens and Field of View
The standard optical configuration provides approximately D82° coverage. Lens and optical parameters can be evaluated when the device requires a different scene width, target size or mounting distance.
USB and Output Configuration
USB2.0 UVC is the standard host interface. Resolution, frame rate and output mode should be evaluated according to whether the project prioritizes native 48MP capture, 4K video or lower-resolution high-frame-rate operation.
Mechanical Integration
The standard module structure is approximately 41×41×13mm.
Mounting clearance, lens opening, cable direction and available enclosure depth should be confirmed before the mechanical design is finalized.
Final configuration should be validated with the actual host platform, enclosure, optics, software, and lighting environment before sampling.
FAQ
When is Autofocus genuinely more useful than Fixed Focus on a 48MP module?
Autofocus provides real value when the object distance changes enough that one fixed focal position cannot keep all intended targets sharp. If the device always observes the same plane at a controlled distance, Fixed Focus may be simpler and more predictable.
Does 48MP mean the camera can output 8000×6000 at 30fps?
No. Native 48MP capture and 4K30 are different operating modes. The current specification lists 8000×6000 at up to 5fps, while 3840×2160 supports 30fps.
Why does this model support both Classical AF and PDAF?
They represent different focusing mechanisms available within the camera architecture. Which behavior is used in the final system depends on sensor control, firmware and host integration, so Autofocus performance should be validated with the intended device rather than judged from the feature name alone.
Is D82° suitable for every high-resolution application?
No. D82° provides moderate-wide scene coverage, but the correct FOV depends on target size and working distance. If the target occupies too little of the image, a narrower optical direction may preserve more useful pixels on the target.
Is USB2.0 a limitation for a 48MP camera?
USB2.0 can support the defined operating modes, but bandwidth affects which combinations of resolution, compression and frame rate are practical. Native 48MP capture should not be treated as equivalent to continuous 4K30 transmission.
Is this model suitable for fast-moving targets?
The module uses a Rolling Shutter architecture. If the target moves quickly during exposure and geometric distortion is unacceptable, a Global Shutter model should be evaluated instead of relying on Autofocus or frame rate to solve the motion issue.
